ABOUT DIWALI - (2009 = 17. Oktober)

Deepavali or Diwali is the major Indian occasion which is celebrated whole heartedly in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. It is also called 'Festival of Lights' as people illuminate candles, diyas on this day and celebrate the victory of good over wicked powers. The day is celebrated in throughout the world, where in nepal it is called Tihar and Swanti. It falls in the months of October or November. Diwali is also originated as the harvest day where it is considered as the last harvest time of the year before the starting of winter season. Businessmen close their accounts and starts their new financial year. Therefore, Goddess Lakshmi, deity of wealth and prosperity in the Hinduism, is thanked and people offer their praying and wish to have a good year ahead.

Was ist DIWALI?

Deepavali oder Diwali ist eines der größten indischen Feste. Es wird im Hinduismus, Sikhismus und Jainism gefeiert. Man nennt es auch das "Fest der Lichter" oder "Lichtfest", an dem Kerzen angezündet werden und der Sieg Gottes über die bösen Kräfte gefeiert wird. Der Tag wird weltweit gefeiert; entweder im Oktober oder im November und in Nepal nennt man ihn Tihar oder Swanti. Diwali ist auch als "Erntetag" zu verstehen, da diese Jahreszeit die letzte ist, um die Ernte einzubringen, bevor der Winter beginnt. Geschäftsleute schließen ihre Buchhaltung ab und beginnen ein neues "Finanzjahr". Zu diesem Anlass wird der Götting Lakshmi gedankt, die Gottheit für Reichtum und Wohlstand im Hinduismus, und man wünscht für ein erfolgreiches und gutes Neues Jahr.
